Music Network Butterfly Sessions

Delighted to be invited to contribute to Music Network’s Butterfly Sessions series and to be among a great eclectic bunch of musicians commissioned to write a piece reflecting the times we are in.

My piece is called ‘Guth na Maidine’, Sound/Voice of the Morning and it was a great journey of discovery for me as I had not played the harp since lockdown. I hadn’t felt the need or want or maybe the right energy. To be invited to contribute meant I had to at least try, so huge thanks to Deirdre Moynihan and all the team at Music Network.

We’ve been really fortunate with the great weather so I’ve been spending plenty of time in the garden, enjoying the bird song. The first phrase is robbed from one wee bird I haven’t identified yet. And off it went . . .
