What a week with the bould MacInnes!

It started in Achill, at Scoil Acla. There was a great turn out and a fantastic welcome for Kathleen by Achill pipe band seargeant Michael Lavelle.  John ‘twin’ McNamara, who brought the ‘Teanga Binn ár Máthair’ song to us all, joined Kathleen and Breanndán Ó Beaglaoich for the great song and finale. We had a great band on the night including piper Mick O’Brien, cellist Cormac O’Brien and Scoil Acla cathaoirleach fiddler Diarmaid Gielty. Thanks to Diarmaid and the deadly team at Scoil Acla for a great night.

Another fab night then on the Fr.Ted island, Inis Oirr. Our thanks to Mairéad at Áras Éanna arts centre for the gig.  Many  Fr.Ted moments was had, complete with first time false nail harping! We took the day off on Sunday on the island to soak up the Mayo slaughter of Donegal in the football quarter final

Matt Molloy’s Pub is always a special gig for me, with again that night young John ‘twin’ McNamara turning up to join Kathleen on the ‘Teanga Binn’ which made the night even more special.

The wee tour ended up with another highlight in meeting up with the one and only Kitty seáin Cunningham in Teelin, Co.Donegal. Kitty (94) was in fine form, even had the bottle of whiskey out for the Scottish guests. It was fantastic to have her sing with us at the concert in Oideas Gael, Gleann Colmcille. Thanks to Liam Ó Cunnigeáin for this gig.
