Tola and mesel had a great gig as part of the ‘Deadly Duo’ series at the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow in January. We had had our first duo outing at the great Celti-cimes festival in France last summer.

In October last Cormac Breatnach, Tommy Hayes and mesel were given an opportunity to play together in Cork at the ‘Junctions’ Green room gig in the Opera House.

“Whistle player Cormac Breatnach is most known for his work with the groundbreaking group Deiseal with whom he released 2 seminal albums. Throughout his long career he has played with artists as diverse as Elvis Costello, Vanessa Williams, and Donal Lunny. Cormac’s music is highly influenced by jazz and blues and recently, he has acknowledged and embraced his Spanish/Basque roots.”

Vincent Barboni of the Celti-cimes festival then suggested Tola, Cormac & mesel for a concert at their festival this summer and so begins a new musical journey . . .

We will also be playing at the William Kennedy Piping festival in November with special guest piper Tiarnan Ó Duinnchinn.
